The Dark Tower, Volume 1: The Gunslinger Born - Richard Isanove, Jae Lee, Robin Furth, Peter David, Stephen King Beautifully drawn and compelling. This is the beginning of the Gunslinger story, approved by Stephen King in graphic novel form. It is also my first introduction to Stephen King. I found the storyline a bit confusing, King uses language that is unique to the Gunslinger, so perhaps it would be more enjoyable to read the novels first. I've read that the single edition trade copies include explanatory excerpts from the novels, so in retrospect I would have liked to read these in the original graphic novel releases. Dark Tower is now on my to-read list (the one in my head,) so in that respect this edition was a success. Warning: This edition is a huge mass of spoilers for the Dark Tower series, so if you hate to be spoiled, skip it.
